Chicago is a microcosm of history, culture and diversity divided up into 77 different distinct neighborhoods—it’s said that every person can find at least one neighborhood they identify with to call home. Chicago’s roots lay in architectural history (it’s home to three of the world’s ten tallest buildings!), the rich sound of blues music and live theater to name a few things. While it’s known for being incredibly frigid in the winter, the city comes alive in the summer with an incredible network of rooftop bars and restaurants—to many this winter-to-summer bloom is what Chicago is all about.

City Ambassador

Ellie Eberts

Ellie is a San Francisco Bay Area native who transplanted to Chicago to pursue a Masters of Design at the IIT Institute of Design. As a service design and strategist, Ellie harnesses her background in Linguistics to understand complex systems and situations in order to design for them accordingly. In addition to her passion for practicing design, she also recently co-chaired BarnRaise 2015, a maker-conference aimed at tackling Chicago-embedded social issues with human-centered design methods. When she’s not losing out on countless hours of sleep as a graduate student (graduation day in May 2016 is coming soon!), Ellie enjoys exploring the city on the hunt for graffiti, cooking any new recipe she can get her hands on and speaking fluent Italian.

Good is:
something that truly resonates in a person’s life in an impactful way. It can be anything from a random act of kindness that changes someone’s day to setting a person up for a lifetime of success with a solid education. Good is the reason behind a person’s smile when they aren’t aware that they’re actually smiling.
